I'm going to try to keep these blog posts short and to the point. No diatribes from Toews today. Fuck it. Here goes. WHY THE WEBSITE? This website serves as a platform for marketing, networking and show-casing my portfolio of work in the performing arts and education. MOM'S PIECE My mother, Mary Toews, has asked me to help her write and direct her memoir. Her and I agreed that the best medium to tell her story would be through "a one-women show." I will be casting someone to play my mother and we will hopefully perform a draft of the show for an audience sometime next spring, 2015. My mother's story is a hilarious and disturbing depiction of Mexican-American culture, immigration and the fallacy of the American Dream. Stay tuned for more updates. PROJECTS I am currently working on a few scriptz. Here they are: Office Hours a play in eight scenes A play about an aging professor at a prestigious Liberal Arts college and his fall from academic grace. A drama about academia and literature. The FRINGE a 10 minute play Fred and Lisa, a camera man and host for a controversial YouTube news channel, document and react the "highlight event" of the festival. What they discover is shocking and hilarious. A dark comedy about media and art. lolCATa one-act play A group of friends get together for their annual "millennial celebration" dinner. Suzie, a fiance of one of the friends, suspects something sinister is up. A dark satire of our social media culture. DOC DWEEB Internationally acclaimed multi-media Artist, Kayc Kayc has commissioned me to help her write a script as well as perform as her "assistant," for her touring show entitled, Doc Dweeb.
